Profile

A law firm seeks a skilled Consumer Financial Regulatory Associate to join its Financial Services Practice Group in New York City. This position is designed for an attorney with a minimum of four years of experience in regulatory matters, particularly in consumer finance. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in regulations related to payments, credit products, and laws governing unfair, deceptive, or abusive practices.

Duties

• Advise clients on compliance with consumer financial regulations at both state and federal levels.
• Draft and review legal documents about consumer financial products and services.
• Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis on emerging financial technologies, including FinTech, cryptocurrency, and digital assets.
• Engage with clients to ensure their understanding of regulatory requirements and best practices.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop effective compliance strategies and solutions.
• Participate in discussions regarding regulatory developments that affect clients in the financial sector.

Requirements

• Minimum of four years of experience in consumer financial regulatory matters.
• Strong understanding of financial regulations, particularly those affecting payments and credit products.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a focus on client service.
• Experience with emerging platforms, mortgage lenders/services, and cryptocurrency is a plus.
• Membership in a local bar association in good standing is required; prior law firm experience is not mandatory.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in New York and in good standing.
