Director, Market Development
The candidate will collaborate closely with other members of the marketing and business development team, lawyers and administrative staff to execute marketing goals and objectives at the practice group, departmental and office levels. Develop and monitor firmwide and local marketing and business development budgets. Evaluate opportunities for ROI as well as reviewing and analyzing results for purposes of future improvement. Meet with key regional partners, members of firm management and existing marketing and business development personnel to assess/analyze current efforts and to develop/implement future business development initiatives. In conjunction with the firmwide Director of Marketing, assist with region specific marketing activities, including positioning/branding strategy, oversight of market research, planning, and execution. Maintain responsibility for pitches, proposals, and responses to RFPs. Strategic research and analysis of markets and clients for purposes of developing new business or strengthening relationships with current clients. Training, coaching and mentor of lawyers and support staff with respect to their business/client development activities. Ensure marketing materials, experience documents and other key collateral items are created and updated to position the firm in the most effective manner. Monitor and evaluate directory submission process to ensure all submissions are appropriate, consistent with firm policies and made on time. Organize and oversee the event and sponsorship process in local offices with significant attention paid to increasing brand profile and capitalizing on business development opportunities. Oversee management of BD staff members assigned to locations of responsibility. Serve as a resource for marketing team members and lawyers throughout the firm, offering an educational approach to best practices in marketing and communications. Contribute to varied Marketing and Business Development team efforts and priorities. MBA in Marketing or other relevant advanced degree is preferred. Should have 15-20 years of relevant business development experience in a B2B environment. HR related experience in hiring, managing and performance reviews of business development personnel is required. Prior experience with global brands is preferred. Fluency in other location-specific languages is a plus.
