Job Overview:

A law firm in Indianapolis, IN, is seeking a Family Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have 3-10 years of experience, possess exceptional communication and problem-solving skills, and be able to hit the ground running with an already established caseload. The Family Attorney will handle divorce proceedings, provide legal counsel, create legal documents, and represent clients in court when necessary.

Job Duties:

• Conduct legal research, prepare for and attend hearings, and provide legal counsel with the assistance of senior associate attorneys.
• Create legal documents, including correspondence, briefs, motions, pleadings, contracts, affidavits, and settlement agreements for contract negotiations and proceedings.
• Assist clients in determining proper legal solutions and the best course of action.
• Communicate with senior associates, paralegals, and clients to ensure efficient case management.
• Handle the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings as needed.
• Prepare legal documents such as legal pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgments, and orders for a high volume of cases.
• Work closely with paralegals and senior partners to ensure swift action through the civil litigation process.
• Keep client files properly organized and up to date.
• Represent clients in court proceedings as required.

Job Requirements:

• Must be able to hit the ground running with an already established caseload.
• Completion of a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills to work with staff and clients at all levels.
• Ability to collaborate with senior attorneys to serve client needs and grow the client base.
• 3-10 years of relevant experience.
• Proven record of success in advocating for plaintiffs and defendants.
• Active membership in the American Bar Association (ABA).
• A bachelor's degree with a legal background and a J.D. degree are required.
• Great negotiation and communication skills, particularly in stressful and emotional situations.
