Job Title: Civil Litigation And Title Attorney
Job Overview:
A reputable law firm in Portland, OR, is seeking a skilled attorney with experience in both civil litigation and transactional title work. This position involves managing litigation matters from start to finish and resolving real estate title issues outside of court proceedings. The ideal candidate will demonstrate legal independence, a proactive approach to case handling, and the ability to effectively communicate with clients and appear in court. Duties:
Handle civil litigation cases from initial assignment through resolution
Draft legal documents, including pleadings, memoranda, and client correspondence
Independently represent clients in court proceedings (in-person and telephonic)
Maintain frequent and clear communication with clients, providing legal advice and updates
Review title reports and implement curative measures for issues such as:
Legal description inconsistencies
Priority and vesting disputes
Scrivener's errors and related record defects
Requirements:
Active license to practice law in California
Admission to all Federal District Courts in California or willingness to gain admission
Willingness to obtain additional bar admissions (e.g., Arizona, Nevada) preferred
Ability to manage multiple legal matters efficiently and independently
Strong drafting, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Active membership in good standing with the California Bar
Skills:
Excellent organization and multitasking capabilities
Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively
Competency in resolving both litigation and non-litigation title issues
Comfort with courtroom representation and independent case strategy
Proficiency in legal research and drafting tools
