Description

The Director of Automation performs technical planning, architecture development and modification of specifications for infrastructure automation platforms and product; Develops specifications for new automation products and service offerings; Assesses the compatibility and integration of products/services proposed as standards in order to ensure an integrated architecture across interdependent technologies. Decisions are typically related to the implementation of new/updated programs or large-scale projects. This role will produce the supporting technical/operational processes needed to support a successful automation strategy. Assesses the automation needs of the IT organization and produces the needed automation platform solutions that enable dev teams to accelerate their speed to value. Core responsibilities are related to developing the Enterprise Infrastructure automation strategy and the corresponding teams required to advance it. This leader can grow multiple managers and highly specialized professional associates.

Responsibilities

The Director of Automation leads the planning, design, and engineering of enterprise-level infrastructure and platform automation. This role requires an in-depth understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across IT.

Responsibilities

Lead the Automation Engineering organization

Develop the teams and talent needed to produce an Enterprise IaC strategy including the necessary platforms and processes

Work with product teams to build scalable, efficient, and effective automation strategies that empower the organization to release new products

Develop and implement our Cloud automation platforms

Advance our existing automation engineering solutions

Work with peers and leaders across the org to align our automation strategy to support key business initiatives

Be the IaC evangelist in the Infrastructure org

Work with operations to produce a platform support structure

Required Qualifications

8 or more years of technical

5 or more years of management experience

Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

Experience in building a scalable platform automation organization

5 or more years of technical experience with Enterprise automation platforms

5 or more years of management experience in an engineering organization

Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, GitHub, GitOps, Artifactory, ServiceNow, VMware, Anthos

Experience working on an Agile product team

Azure certifications

GCP certifications

Master's Degree
