Senior IP Counsel - Trademarks
The candidate will train, advise, and influence marketing clients on trademark, copyright, and social media issues and help guide them as they strengthen existing brands and as they develop and build new brands. Oversee trademark clearance and prosecution, including review of packaging and advertising, and giving business-focused risk-management advice. Draft, negotiate, and advise clients on trademark license agreements. Police trademark and copyright infringement activities by third parties. Set case strategy and manage outside counsel in trademark oppositions and infringement litigation. Advise clients, and conduct trademark and copyright due diligence on acquisitions/divestitures. A Juris Doctor (J.D.) from a nationally accredited law school. Should have 10+ years of trademark law experience including law firm and/or corporate law department experience (ideally both). Experience advising clients on the protection of consumer-facing brands. A passion for remarkable food experiences and a desire to immerse oneself in the brands delivering them to consumers. Admitted (or willing to gain admission) to practice law in the state of Minnesota. Excellent judgment, strong strategic, creative, and analytical thinking, experience-gained business acumen, and demonstrated leadership skills. Experience doing trademark and copyright due diligence for acquisitions and divestitures is preferred. Development and management of global trademark portfolios. Experience with inbound and outbound brand licensing is preferred.
