Is held accountable for policies and procedures of the department, organization, and CHI.  Additionally, the position serves as a role model for ethical behavior and promotes an awareness and understanding of positive ethical and moral principles consistent with the Mission, Vision and Behavior Standards of Mercy Medical Center. 

Nurse Supervisor directs and supervises nursing staff under the guidance of  
Department managers in their absence.  
  
Essential Duties:

1.   Responsible for supervising nursing units in the absence of unit managers.
2.   Active participant of calculating and monitoring Hours Per Patient Days
      along with acuity of patients, in relationship to staffing units accurately,        
      safely, and cost effective under the direction of the unit manager.
3.   Willingly and competently observes and practices safety guidelines, policies      
      and procedures providing safe environment for patients and staff.
4.   Coordinates Staff and activities during emergencies. Activates appropriate
      emergency plan if needed. Keeps Administration informed.
5.   Coaches, counsels, and disciplines staff on incidences needing immediate
      attention, keeping unit manager informed. Defers other incidences to unit
      manager.
6.   Open on-going dialog with unit managers.
7.   Accomplishes personal/professional goals outlined on yearly evaluation.
8.   Participates in the Inpatient Nursing Leadership group at least monthly.
9.   Serves as mentor and role model creating a positive work environment for staff.
10. Rounds daily on patients and promotes patient satisfaction','!*!Certifications & License
Current ND RN License
Current BLS, ACLS, & PALS are required
Pass color blindness test
JCAHO environment of care standards
EducationGraduated from an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred.
ExperienceThree years nursing experience,
