Oversees the processing of cash from a client to/ from carriers in the payment of premiums and claims. Responsible for all aspects of Accounting & Settlement from invoice to settlement and allocation, managing customer relationships, chasing debts, reconciling accounts, handling receipts, making payments, and clearing down ledgers.

The Role

The Sub-Ledger Managers’ responsibilities include direct

supervision of sub-ledger accounting, GL Outage, escheatment/UCP/external

collection teams (Recovery). They are accountable for coordinating and oversight

of the monthly balancing, journal entries, clearing of GL Outages, interagency

reporting, and various other related special projects. This includes the

development and mentoring of sub-ledger accountants and support staff. They will be accountable for communicating

and maintaining the most efficient methods of processing. Responsible for

hiring, termination and performance reviews of sub-ledger accounting, GL

Outage, escheatment/UCP, and external collection staff. Maintain communication with the Sub-Ledger

Controller to clearly escalate issues impacting the general ledger, i.e.,

month-end criticals. Typically requires 3 to 5 years of experience in the

accounting field, reporting to the Sub-Ledger Controller.

The Requirements

Leadershipand oversight of Sub-Ledger Accountants, GL Outage, UCP/Escheatment Associates,and external collection staff

Ensurethe sub-ledger team adheres to internal and external audit requirements

Oversightof the documentation process as it relates to balancing and journal entries

MaintainRACI, training and manual materials

Identifyand communicate process gaps, areas of concern and potential issues to Sub-LedgerController

Workon ledger related tasks/projects as needed including testing

Responsiblefor monthly closing process in Epic

Responsiblefor hiring, monitoring, coaching and terminating direct reports

Responsiblefor bi-yearly and annual performance appraisals for each team member

Responsiblefor monthly 1:1’s for positive reinforcements and/or coaching opportunities

Responsiblefor defining clear expectations of team progress then monitoring thoseexpectations (goal setting)

Partnerwith MSM’s, ASM’s and PQM’s to improve processes having a direct impact on thegeneral ledger

Highschool diploma or equivalent required

Collegedegree in accounting/business management required

Teamfacilitation and management experience needed

Minimum3 year of service within the regional accounting department is preferred

Previousexperience in General Ledger/Sub-Ledger preferred
