Senior Marketing Manager
The candidate will support the marketing, client service and business development efforts for the Intellectual Property Practice by increasing visibility, awareness and business development coordination. Working with practice leadership, the Senior Marketing Manager leads the development and execution of marketing strategy and business development that supports the overall business goals of the practice. Build and sustain “trusted marketing adviser” relationships with all internal clients and stakeholders. Work directly with practice leadership to develop and implement practice group marketing plans in alignment with the firm’s growth priorities. Monitor and report progress on the plans against defined metrics. Develop an in-depth understanding of assigned practice groups by tracking market (including key clients), competitive and business intelligence using various tools and leveraging internal and external resources. Collaborate with others in the marketing department and across the firm to provide efficient and effective client service. Consulting with practice leadership to develop and execute marketing and business development plans for the group and individual lawyers within the practice. Leveraging market knowledge to drive strategy within service areas and identify ways to distinguish service offerings. Working in conjunction with the Proposals Team, providing subject matter expertise for RFPs, pitches and statements of qualifications. Overseeing and/or responding to related surveys, drafting nominations and supporting the PR team for earned media opportunities. Supporting client updates and other communications. Identifying opportunities for strategic sponsorships and other brand-building opportunities; managing and/or assisting with external client events and tradeshows, including speaker placement. Building and managing budgets related to marketing expenses, gaining required approvals as necessary and advising on ROI related to expenditures. Developing marketing materials, website content and other client-facing collateral to promote the practice. Ensure ongoing maintenance of materials, including overseeing experience list management. Manage and mentor marketing staff and oversee personnel issues, workload and development. Contribute to those individuals’ professional growth by encouraging participation in targeted professional development opportunities. Serve as a role model, setting professional standards, for both the department and junior staff members. Work with direct reports to establish and support achievement of performance goals for that are aligned with both the firm’s and marketing department’s priorities and objectives. Gather feedback from internal customers and colleagues and share with direct reports to ensure continuous improvement of client service.
