Job Overview:

A regional law firm client is seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Associate Attorney to join its litigation practice in Houston, Texas. The ideal candidate will have 5–7 years of experience in defending a wide range of claims including general liability, personal injury, product liability, and transportation matters. This position offers the opportunity to manage a caseload independently from initial investigation through trial or resolution, while working with a collaborative legal team.

Location:

• Houston, TX

Duties:

• Manage a caseload of insurance defense matters from inception through resolution

• Conduct depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts

• Prepare pleadings, discovery responses, and motions

• Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, and arbitrations

• Negotiate settlements and draft settlement agreements

• Develop case strategy and provide counsel to insurance carriers and insureds

• Maintain regular communication with claims representatives and clients

• Collaborate with legal support teams and senior attorneys

Requirements:

• 5–7 years of experience in insurance defense litigation

• Background in handling general liability, product liability, personal injury, and transportation claims

• Demonstrated ability to independently manage files and meet litigation deadlines

• Proficiency in Texas procedural and evidentiary rules

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

• Active and in good standing with the Texas State Bar

Skills:

• Strong oral advocacy and written communication abilities

• Ability to conduct thorough legal research and draft clear, persuasive documents

• Skilled in negotiations and case evaluation

• Self-starter with strong initiative and organizational skills

• Capable of working both independently and as part of a legal team
