Vice President, Assistant General Counsel
The candidate will provide strategic legal counsel to senior business leaders. Serve as primary legal counsel for matters arising for the investment products (i.e., mutual funds, ETFs, private funds, and CITs) and public markets strategies (i.e., active equities). Coordinate fund launches, including working with outside counsel on legal documentation drafting, and address any issues arising from fund operations. Oversee all client contracts. Assist, if requested, with the review of regulatory filings, particularly those with significant fund information (e.g., Form ADV and Form PF). Perform legal research and analysis of legal and regulatory issues. Provide legal support to regulatory examinations. Present to Operating Committee and Board as required. Other tasks as identified by the General Counsel. A minimum of 6 years of asset management industry experience with law firm or company required. Experience with investment adviser regulatory matters and mutual fund launches, filings and regulatory matters required, with specific expertise in Investment Company Act regulations preferred. Experience managing direct reports, including non-lawyers, preferred. Executive presence and executive voice required. Ability to do risk-based legal and compliance analysis required. Collaborative, team-oriented work ethic and commitment to building an inclusive and diverse team culture required. J.D. degree from an accredited law school. Licensed to practice law in Illinois. Proficient in a Microsoft 365 Environment.
