Aircraft Mechanic II
The Aircraft Mechanic (Sheet-metal) performs sheet-metal, plastic, and composite AVUM-AVIM-Depot level repairs on DoD rotary-wing and fixed-wing aircraft by utilizing the most current (Mil-Std) technical references. Provide airframe support on pertinent AGSE equipment and aviation training devices. Must use applicable airframe repair procedures and/or AMCOM engineering approved procedures that results in safe, mission ready aircraft. Must apply airframe repairs that incorporate various glues, resins, fiberglass, epoxy, pro-seal and/or other chemically reactive consumables as per applicable aircraft technical references. Must comply with state, federal and local HAZMAT standard operating procedures. Must read, interpret drawings and form, shape, and fabricate aircraft stringers, bulkheads, access panels, doublers, inspection plates, box-beams, and fairings/cowlings for fuselage applications and on primary flight control surfaces. Must use company and government computer systems to access various technical references for airframe repairs and administrative training requirements. Must document maintenance as per QA and established regulatory requirements. Must use internet access to post man-hour/labor and time keeping records. Maintain high state of cleanliness and utilize clean-as-you-go practices when performing maintenance. Communicate and assist customers and coworkers in a manner that fosters a positive safety environment. Must maintain situational awareness, stay cognitive-focused, and mitigate risks. Comply with processes and procedures as per TC 3-04.7 Army Aviation Maintenance and Ground Operations Procedures (GOP) per AR 95-20. The following are essential job accountabilities: 1. Performs field and sustainment level aviation maintenance support level services. 2. Operates Aviation Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) with a license. 3. Performs daily, special, calendar, special, PMS, and hourly aircraft inspections. Enters aircraft faults or deficiencies into manual or automated (ULLS_AE) logbooks. Performs man hour work estimates, determines HAZMAT usage, and bench-stock requirements commensurate with the customer's mission and flying-hour program 4. Troubleshoots malfunctions on aircraft electrical, and avionics systems. 5. Performs safe AVUM, AVIM repairs, replacements, of components associated with avionics, electrical, battery, armament, engine, prop-rotor, sheet metal, and power-train shop operations. 6. Uses special tools, micrometers, torque wrenches, dial indicators, depth gages, and other pertinent TMDE devices safely. 7. Maintain handreceipt on assigned government furnished property, shop equipment, and tools without losses and error free handreceipt. 8. Reads and interprets OEM, manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, advisory directives, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. 9. Accesses web based sources to download various aircraft technical references, and Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM) to perform by-the book Mil-Std aircraft maintenance. 10. Performs all unscheduled, calendar, and hourly AVUM, AVIM and approved DEPOT level avionics maintenance services on supported aircraft. 11. Participates in Downed Aircraft Recovery (DART) operations. 12. Participates in corrosion preventive control program, foreign object damage/elimination (FOD) program, safety-OSHA program, and fall protection program as per technical reference specified by the company and the US Government in this contract (AR 95-20, DA PAM 738-751, TC 3-04.7, AR 385-95 series, IETMs, and Ground Operations Procedures (GOP). 13. Modifies reverse engineer pertinent aircraft parts or components authorized by AMCOM engineering for all make-model type aircraft supported as per the current contract. 14. Tows aircraft and operates all powered and non-powered AGE/GSE and shop-hangar equipment associated with aviation maintenance services that are noted in this job description safely. 15. Mitigates risk, projects a sense of urgency, maintains situational awareness, stays cognitive, and remains focus when executing task and mission requirements. 16. Uses chain of command to inform Aviation Facility Manager or Program Manager of any and all irregularities. 17. Provides own common hand-tools and be FOD compliant by implementing quick-scanning processes for tool accountability. 18. Maintains knowledge of HAZMAT procedures when using and disposing of hazardous materials and hazardous waste products. 19. Practices good housekeeping, energy conservation and safety precautions at all times. 20. Provides outstanding customer service 24/7. Maintain high standards and shop-work areas that project a professional appearance. 21. Wears safety steel toe shoes, hard hat, eye protection, hearing protection, aprons, gloves, lumbar support belt, and respirator mask as required when executing pertinent maintenance tasks. 22. Perform maintenance task in confined spaces, 23. Participates in training and safety events as required. 24. Performs and assist ASO in executing aviation safety related duties per AR 95-20 and GOP procedures. 25. Complies with all regulatory HAZMAT, OSHA, DOT and WestWind maintenance procedures. 26. Reports directly to the Aircraft Mechanic III for work instructions. 27. Performs other related duties as assigned. The Company reserves the right to change duties as requirements dictate.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
* High School diploma
* Two years experience as a sheet metal repairman.
* Must have a background in the use of metals and installation of all types of fasteners.
* Must be knowledgeable of fabrication of aircraft sheet metal and fiberglass components.
* Training in the field of structural repair is desired.
* Must comply with state, federal and local HAZMAT standard operating procedures.
* Must read, interpret drawings and form, shape, and fabricate aircraft stringers, bulkheads, access panels, doublers, inspection plates, box-beams, and fairings/cowlings for fuselage applications and on primary flight control surfaces.
* Must use company and government computer systems to access various technical references for airframe repairs and administrative training requirements.
* Must document maintenance as per QA and established regulatory requirements.
* Must use internet access to post man-hour/labor and time keeping records.
* Communicate and assist customers and coworkers in a manner that fosters a positive safety environment.

* Must have two years experience in a leadership role.
* Must provide own common hand tools and maintain accountability (quick-scan) per FOD tool control program.
* Must wear safety shoes and be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
* Must wear respirator and pertinent protective clothing and equipment.
* Must be able to work on top of aircraft and use fall protection.
* Work in confined spaces, mitigate risks and execute confined space processes.
* Must have full use of eyes, arms, legs, fingers without restrictions to perform safe aviation maintenance tasks.
* Must be a United States citizen or be authorized to work in the United States.
* Must acquire a common access card (CAC) and maintain an assigned email/network account per government regulatory guidelines.
* Must pass pre-employment drug screening, random drug testing, and background check.
* Must possess a valid driver's license, attend/complete accident avoidance awareness training online and be able to obtain a military operator's permit for each type of vehicle or equipment required to operate in supporting aircraft maintenance operations.
* May be required to assist at other sites as needed, work uncommon hours of duty, extended hours, nights, weekends, holidays and away from home-station.
