This is a full time, exempt position that will be located in Longview, Washington and support the Longview and Raymond Sawmills. Background:This position will provide procurement support to our Sawmills in the Northwest. We're looking for an experienced individual with manufacturing business experience in managing mill materials, services and cost strategies. The individual should be highly motivated and a self-starter capable of working without direct supervision. Travel across the mills and to provide support within the region as needed is expected and operating as flow to work, other regional assistance may be assigned. Specific work activities include: Contract negotiations with suppliers and manufacturers; purchasing of materials and services outside of the day to day contracted requirements; and developing creative ways to reduce customer cost. Key Functions:Pursue opportunities to consolidate larger dollar purchases and supply management across the NW region and synergies for all Regions. Prepare and publish specifications for bids, evaluate bid responses, contract award and creation, verify history of supplier service and their ability to meet contract specification. Search out new suppliers based on safety, quality, service as well as competitive pricing in a total cost environment. Perform procurement functions for non-routine goods and services utilizing SAP. Source a wide variety of commodities and services and provide project support to maintenance and engineering personnel. Perform procurement and transaction processing activities at various locations and work closely with the storeroom coordinator as needed. Create and manage local or regional contracts for supplies and services. The contact person for any supplier related issue for the area and resolution of issues. Support Wood Products manufacturing facilities for capital projects. A key contributing team member for the manufacturing locations and participate in manufacturing location specific cost team meetings.','!*!The following qualifications are REQUIRED:Procurement Certification (C.P.M., A.P.P., CSPM) or minimum five years equivalent purchasing related experience, preferably in the forest products industry or a manufacturing environmentWorking knowledge of commercial terms and business lawsAbility to research product/services and conduct value analysis by analyzing data and identifying optionsExperience in bidding, negotiating, preparing and administering contracts and agreementsCommitted to continuous improvement as both a supplier and customerCost conscious and business performance orientedWorking understanding of materials management and the ability to work closely with storeroom associatesExperience in maintenance and capital project support, including bidding, negotiating and contract administrationProven business acumen and ability to obtain results, including problem solving techniques.Advanced buying techniques i.e., scheduling agreementsUnderstanding of investment recoveryCustomer oriented and focused (both internal and external)Effective problem-solving techniques and capability to analyze and recognize process efficiency opportunitiesEffective communication skills (oral, written and listening) communications and interpersonal skills required to interact and participate in a team environmentDemonstrated skills in business writing, verbal communication and analytical processesCommitted to professional ethical standards.
