Sr Bond Claims Representative
The candidate will maintain electronic bond claims files and where appropriate, some critical document paper files. Acknowledge receipt of claims correspondence and set up appropriate reservation of rights. Confirm or deny coverage. Create and maintain correspondence, log notes and diary for claims. Analyze claims and defenses, issue payments where appropriate and make demands for indemnification or collateral as warranted. Manage outside counsel and consultants by drafting scopes of work and setting budgets. Assist Bond Claim Specialist and Bond Claims Manager with multiple project defaults. Pursue salvage on contract surety claims and set for salvage on other bond claims. Represent the Company on various task forces or credit committees. File or oversee the filing and tracking of financing statements pursuant to the Uniform Commercial Code. Conduct searches on investigative databases and performs credit report searches where appropriate. Attend claims seminars and workshops. A College degree is required. Paralegal certification is helpful. A Law degree is preferred. Experience in a commercial law firm or construction company is helpful. Excellent written and oral communication skills are needed. Attention to detail and procedures are needed. Knowledge of construction, contract, fiduciary and bankruptcy legal concepts is required. Should have the ability to look up statutes and regulations to understand bonded obligations.
