Responsibilities: Provide assistance to the attorneys within the Corporate Legal Department for necessary and appropriate legal research. Completes moderately complex legal filings. Develops and maintains a general understanding of internal processes and procedures. Completes special projects as assigned. Obtain legal documents and information from governmental agencies as required on behalf of UPMC hospitals and entities. Perform moderately complex legal research for UPMC attorneys utilizing both local and electronic research tools. Prepare and respond to third-party subpoenas, discovery requests, court orders, and other requests seeking medical, personnel, and payroll and business records. Prepare and respond to third-party subpoenas seeking protected health information on an as-needed basis.
