VP, Assistant General Counsel
Duties: Ensure Charter’s compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulations (including, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the American with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, Executive Order 11246, the Uniformed Services Reemployment Rights Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Occupational Safety and Health Act, and all similar state and local laws, regulations, and ordinances). Provide legal counsel and guidance to the Company’s leaders concerning the full spectrum of employment-related issues, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblowing, pre-employment background investigations, drug screens, reasonable accommodations related to disabilities and religion, leaves of absence, wage and hour compliance, discipline, termination, compensation, health and welfare benefits, contingent workforce management, joint employment, non-compete agreements, reductions in the workforce, workplace safety, workplace violence, diversity and inclusion, immigration sponsorship, employment-related contracts, and arbitration of employment disputes. Assess and communicate to business leaders the panoply of legal risks associated with actions and initiatives involving or related to the Company’s employees. Manage employment-related administrative claims, arbitration claims, and court litigation. Oversee relationships with outside counsel and law firms, including managing matter budgets and diversity efforts. Provide legal guidance and counsel related to the investigation of harassment, discrimination, and other employee complaints. Review employment-related legal issues associated with Charter’s policies, procedures, and guidelines. Develop content and conduct training related to employment laws for business and human resources leaders. Participate in the implementation and execution of a corporate-wide human resources and business initiatives.
