Role Value Proposition
: This role will be responsible for helping lead residential mortgage loan trading and for helping drive our growth in Prime Jumbo mortgage loan trading. MetLife currently has a $12B portfolio of residential mortgage loans and Prime Jumbo is a rapidly growing part of that portfolio.
This role will be the lead for collateral analysis and pricing on asset purchases for the insurance company and third-party client portfolios.
Work with members of Residential Credit team to drive investments and create value across residential loan products for both internal and external client teams.
Evaluated potential investments by pricing mortgage pools utilizing both internal and external models to generate potential yield profiles across scenarios. Evaluate performance across numerous interest rate paths by evaluating option-adjusted spread pricing and understanding the convexity profile of the loans.
Identify and evaluate new loan originators and conduits for investment potential. Conduct periodic on-site reviews of existing counterparties and provide written assessments of on-site diligence.
Compare and assess mortgage product origination guidelines across conduits and originators. Evaluate credit and default risk arising from different underwriting guidelines. Price assets by qualitatively reflecting these different underwriting criteria.
Communicate relative value within the sector and compared to other investment products to internal business partners.
Maintain and expand current trading relationships. Identify new relationships that add value to the trading platform.
Ability to effectively communicate the asset needs of MetLife Investment Management clients to external partners.
Participate in evaluation of securitization options for existing or potential future loan investments.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Minimum of 5 – 10 years experience in Residential Mortgage Loan Trading
Understanding and evaluating mortgage loan underwriting
Knowledge of mortgage loan convexity and interest rate markets, and the ability to complete transaction documents and close loan purchases
Strong record of success in Residential Mortgage Loan Trading
Software experience in Yieldbook or Bloomberg
Strong Quantitative skills
Strong verbal & written communications
Undergraduate degree required, MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
