State and Local Tax Supervisor or Manager - Severance Tax

The candidate will identify Severance tax savings opportunities for multi-state clients, and deliver exceptional work product to the clients. Will meet with clients and/or taxing authorities, prepare correspondence, research complex tax planning issues, complete data reconciliations, exemption and marketing reviews, defend severance tax audits and prepare tax filings. Should have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field. Master's or J.D. degree is preferred. CPA, CMI and/or J.D. degree is required. Must have 4+ years of multi-state severance tax experience in a public accounting or consulting firm. Experience with severance tax compliance is required. Experience in preparation and delivery of severance tax refund claims and performing Audit defense services in multiple state jurisdictions is needed. Should be knowledgeable in tax research and strategic planning deliverables. Strong relationship management and practice development skills are essential. Strong business development and marketing severance tax services skills are required. Should be a known and respected leader in Severance Tax Services. Proven ability to manage and develop lower level staff, as well as, attract and retain top talent in order to grow and build sustainable severance tax team is a must.
