Purpose and Scope:
The Logistics Analyst facilitates and expedites the movement of materials to and from various points of the RL supply chain. The analyst works with Production, Vendors, Stores, Distribution Operations, Carriers, Custom Brokers, Customs Compliance, Transportation Management and Customers. The candidate should be comfortable initiating, developing and implementing new processes, process improvements, cost savings, performance metrics, exception management reporting, etc. Logistics Analysts complete various analytic projects as related to the Global Supply Chain. While roles and responsibilities within the transportation function vary, the analyst generally works with carriers to prioritize, manage and schedule deliveries, works with origin offices to approve shipment exceptions. Additionally the analyst role develops, generates, analyzes and distributes reports with recommendations incorporated. The analyst contributes to ensuring the on-time delivery to final destination and compliance with all international shipping requirements.
Responsibilities include many of the following activities:
Identify core issues and address by providing advanced analytical / business / technical solutions.
Create commercial invoices in compliance with export regulations.
Monitor inbound and outbound shipments, change service level if required to meet delivery requirements.
Create technical solutions to be managed by individuals with operational skill sets.
Perform transportation / logistics analysis, reviewing carrier performance.
Perform cost / benefit analysis and present multiple alternative scenarios.
Identify improvement / savings opportunities within functioning processes.
Provide expert knowledge in support of transportation management.
Automate existing processes to ensure accuracy and reduce work effort.
Track, trace, rate and route shipments.
Identify transportation violations and compile data for the Compliance Group for issuance of charge backs.
Customer Service Hot Line for all RL retail locations regarding carriers and service.
Develop and prepare monthly carrier performance reports.
Identify methods and areas to improve service, reduce freight costs, and streamline processes.
Interface with Operations, IT and Transportation Management to identify savings and process improvement opportunities. Implement process improvement initiatives.
Adhere to all safety requirements
Knowledge and/or Key Competencies preferred:
Understanding of optimization techniques, routing tools and performance metrics
Strong analytical and problem solving skills, root cause analysis, decision making and follow-up skills
Able to discern needs from request and provide functional deliveries
Advanced competency in Excel, Access and other desk top software
Able to acquire new applications skills and/or process, researching independently
Must be able to continuously utilize keyboard 8 hours per day
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills
Ability to clearly communicate and provide guidance to business partners that have English as second language
Demonstrated planning and project management skills. Proven ability to organize multiple projects schedules and meet shifting priorities
Ability to work in a fast paced, demanding environment
Ability to work effectively in a team or project environment
Flexible and open to change
Strong attention to detail
Must be able to work over 40 hours per week as the business volume demands
Ability to attend and contribute effectively to meetings
Ability to train others on details and effectively cross train in other logistics roles
Able to respond same day to requests submitted by business partners
Ability to provide internal teams with relevant forecast information monthly, quarterly and yearly.

Education and experience preferred
degree (or equivalent) MBA a plus- operations research, information
systems, industrial engineering, or logistics with minimum 2 years transportation/logistics experience (or equivalent), including significant planning/analytical/quantitative
Description of Work Conditions
Work primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Sedentary, sitting, walking, occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending, frequent near vision use for reading and computer use.
