Legal Assistant/Paralegal
The candidate will attend case status meeting with Attorney and maintain attendant Client Status Reports. Draft, file, serve and track general pleadings and documents/correspondence. Docket case schedules, hearings, mediations, depositions and associated deadlines. Run child support synopses using legal database application(s). Assist Attorney in drafting motion paperwork, Property Settlement Agreements/Separation Contracts, final orders, Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs), Joint Statement of Evidence, ER 904 Notice, witness/exhibit lists, Interrogatories, Requests for Production and Subpoenas Duces Tecum and other case related pleadings and/or correspondence. Assemble motion documents, exhibits, Sealed Financial Source Documents, mediation materials, ER 904 Notice, Joint Statement of Evidence and trial notebooks. Prepare, assemble and arrange for delivery answers to Interrogatories and Requests for Production. Review answers to Interrogatories and Requests for Production for deficiencies and prepare memorandums and correspondence regarding same. Compare and contrast discovery responses and case records in Excel or Word. Format and revise Asset and Liabilities spreadsheets. Schedule trial witnesses for trial preparation with Attorney, maintain testimony schedule, spreadsheet and binder for trial witnesses. Supervise filing and document indexing & categorization projects with Legal Assistant and Document Clerks. Must have at least 3-5 solid years of experience in family law or fast-paced litigation; Are case management pros and fully conversant with state and local court rules and procedures; Have extremely strong oral and written communication; Demonstrate a high degree of proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite; Are unflappable under time constraints and multiple deadlines; and Approach their work systematically making time keeping a natural part of their day required. Superior organization and strong attention to detail with follow-through that’s complete only when the task is finished with professionalism throughout required. Ability to work efficiently, independently, and accurately in a fast-paced environment required. Uncommonly strong listening and diplomatic communications required. Optimism and motivation required. Solid communication skills to interact with all levels of Firm personnel, clients of the Firm, opposing counsel, court personnel, and vendors required. Collaborative demeanor with desire to work with and integrate into our collegial office required. Problem solving approach to just about everything required. Proficiency in litigation software including Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Family Soft, and time-keeping applications required.
