The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for managing projects & developing manufacturing processes including planning, coordinating, and implementation of new or improved processes and process equipment.
Initiates investigations into manufacturing problems resulting from product and/or process changes.
Develops deliverables, including drawings, standard work instructions, bills of material, and process control techniques.
Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs.
Improves manufacturing throughput by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
Analyzes manufacturing process flows for enhancements of quality, cost reduction, and throughput.
Designs and develops manufacturing processes for enhancements, product changes, new products, and related fixtures and tooling.
Coordinates tooling & fixture changes to further improve design of tools for optimum manufacturing capability.
Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services, following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures
Research, evaluate, and implement capital projects.
Keeps the Engineering Manager & other stakeholders informed on a regular basis, identifying gaps and providing solutions to achieving the scope, budget and schedule requirements.
Serves as liaison among all team members to ensure comprehension and mutual understanding of all stages of the project.
Provides guidance in the use of appropriate Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools such as: Kaizen, workflow analysis, pull production system, value stream mapping and SPC.
Coordinates and oversees cross functional continuous improvement teams using proven problem solving methodologies and tools.
Performs any other assigned duty as directed by management.
Actively participates in Safety Committees continuous improvement initiatives ensuring plant goals are met.
Works closely with Manufacturing, Sales, and Customer Service leadership to foster a culture of open communication
Supports Lean Daily Management & GEMBA walks to help execute the operating plan.
Education and Experience:
BS in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
7 years of manufacturing / operations experience with broad knowledge of production and processes, logistics, engineering, and business finances or a combination of experience and education
5 years of relevant lean experience including leading lean activities - Six- Sigma Black Belt preferred
Direct (hands-on) experience with lean implementation in a production environment
Experience with capital equipment projects, installation and upgrading
Experience with facilities and manufacturing process equipment required.
Experience with fixtures, tooling, setups and maintenance of CNC mills, lathes, routers preferred
Experience with polymers and PTFE HIGHLY desired
Strong background in problem solving with demonstrated ability to teach Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and Kaizen tools
Ability to prioritize multiple projects.
Well versed in the Microsoft Office suite
