GENERAL DESCRIPTION – PURPOSE OF ROLE:The Veterinary Clinic Specialist (VCS) will be part of a regional team that will be tasked with developing a direct partnership with local veterinary clinics in an effort to introduce the veterinary profession to premium OTC dog and cat product lines as well as the first natural therapeutic pet food line. The goal of the VCS is to gain veterinary sales and recommendations for both the natural premium OTC and therapeutic pet food lines. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:The VCS will be accountable for engaging, educating, and developing ongoing relationships with veterinary clinics to gain sales and recommendations for BLUE products through:• In-clinic (person-to-person) presentations to educate veterinary professionals and their staff on the benefits of various product lines• Develop creative account-specific strategies to demonstrate our commitment to veterinary professionals• The implementation of targeted promotional and educational programs to drive recommendations and sales through the veterinary channel• Achieve business targets via live meetings and outreaches per day, remaining up-to-date with competitor products, and performing administrative duties as necessary• Develop & implement strategies to launch new formulas within the territory• Influence veterinarians and key decision makers within veterinary clinics through relationship building and identifying customer needs• Administrative duties – complete weekly and monthly territory reports, utilize CRM tool to maintain call notes, track activity and communicate on clinic callsOTHER RESPONSIBILITIES AS REQUESTED:• Travel to local or national meetings as required.• Overnight travel required approximately 25-35%QUALIFICATIONS:• Field sales experience in Animal Health / Pet Food Industry (minimum 2 yrs.)• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.• Valid Driver’s License• Computer proficiency with Microsoft platforms (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) & experience with CRM tools• Excellent work ethic, professional appearance, high integrity• Travel required: overnight travel approximately 25-30%PREFERRED SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE:• Strong track record in professional sales and account management• Superior communication, relationship building, and presentation skills• Enthusiastic, competitive, and self-motivated individual• Ability to analyze data and the competitive sales environment• Strong work ethic and territory management proficiency• Ability to handle regular travel for territory manager and/or local & national meetings as requiredEDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:• Bachelor’s degree preferredBlue Buffalo Company Ltd. and its affiliates are an equal opportunity employer and follow all national, state and local ordinances regarding applicant consideration.
