What will I be doing?

As the Associate Data Engineer, you will be responsible for acquiring and applying business knowledge by taking advantage of available resources to develop and foster data solutions that allow our partners to develop sophisticated and innovative solutions to support marketing, pricing, and management initiatives.

More specifically, you will:

Develop and document business logic used to build project design specifications

Support the creation of design specifications that align with our Hilton standards

Apply industry principles, methodologies, tools, and standard processes throughout the application lifecycle to transform the design specifications into data pipelines that will address customer needs

Support the testing and acceptance of these solutions to ensure they align with Hilton standards and provide the appropriate controls and safeguards to ensure the quality and security of our data

Deliver maintenance and enhancements for existing software or packaged applications

Transition the final solutions to our Operations team for ongoing support by defining standard operating procedures and conducting knowledge transfer sessions

Solve production defects and assist the Operations team with short-term mitigation strategies, while you develop and implement long-term solution

What are we looking for?

The success in this role will demonstrate itself through the following attributes and skills:

Knowledge of Big Data concepts and programming concepts along with an understating of RDBMS solutions

Standout colleague, interested in sharing knowledge with other team members and shows interest in learning new technologies

Excellent writing, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

High level of accuracy in work production and attention to detail

To fulfill this role optimally, you should demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:

Work experience in Technology or related field

Exposure to Big Data technologies including in Spark, Spark-SQL, Data Frame, Pair RDD's, Spark YARN

Hands-on experience with AWS, Hadoop, Talend/Informatica, and Redshift technologies

Experience with unit testing and defining test cases

Experience in helping production support teams by solving Incidents/Problems

Experience in contemporary Agile development methodologies (e.g. SAFe)

Hands-on Knowledge with Hive SQL queries

It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

Bachelor’s Degree, or Associate’s Degree plus 6 years of Technology related experience, or High School Degree/GED plus 12 years of Technology related experience

Three (3) years of work experience in Technology or a related field

Experience in Informatica and/or Talend
