Assistant General Counsel

The candidate works with insurance brokers and carriers on various lines of insurance coverage, including worker's compensation, employee accident and health, and general liability. Assists in managing the legal aspects of employee benefit programs, including pension, profit sharing, worker's compensation, group insurance and other benefit programs. Consults with Admissions Department as needed related to patient admissions with potential risk. Consults with outside attorneys, etc. as needed to make admission decisions that mitigate risk to the company. Manages relationship with external attorneys in all legal matters, including general corporate contracts, litigation, and general business advice. Maintains confidentiality of attorney-client relationship in all appropriate matters. Reviews legal documents regarding the company and contracts entered into by the company. Reviews documentation for, and advises on, corporate real estate transactions including purchase, sales, and exchanges. Assures that policies reflect appropriate and current procedures. Assures implementation of policies/procedures as appropriate. Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree and licensure in CA is required. Prior experience in business with some experience in health care is preferred.
