The purpose of this job is to provide flexibility to meet patient care needs and provide job mobility.This position provides direct patient care under the supervision of the RN. This position also provides support to nursing and physician staff by performing tasks and procedures that assist in the care and treatment of patients with illnesses and injuries.Organizes, replaces, and maintains inventory and supply level in the department. This role supports the work of nursing, EKG, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and respiratory therapy staff.This position provides on-going surveillance of patient cardiac monitors and provides RNs with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms and/or vital signs. This position also performs Patient Flow Coordinator duties on monitored units.','!*! High school diploma or GED required.Certification as a Nursing Assistant (NA-C), and as a Virginia Mason Health Care Assistant - Level A, required.EKG certification is required.Maintaining a MA-R credential is required.Comprehensive working knowledge of, and demonstrated skill in recognizing, abnormal cardiac rhythms. Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, diagnostic tests/procedures, and medications. Strong problem solving, organizational, and time management skills. Ability to work independently, and respond appropriately in stressful situations. Excellent interpersonal, and verbal and written communication, skills. Proficiency in using personal computer. Ability to assertively advocate for patient safety, by communicating the urgency of patient hemodynamic instability through monitoring of vital signs and rhythm changes from the monitor screens.
