Safe Haven Harm Reduction Specialist/ Data Entry

Harm reduction plays a significant role in
preventing substance-related deaths and offering access to healthcare, social services, and treatment
. These services decrease overdose fatalities, acute life-threatening infections related to unsterile substance injection, and chronic diseases such as HIV/HCV.
The Harm Reduction Specialist provides engagement and support services, particularly to program participants engaging in behaviors that may pose risks such as drug and alcohol use, sexual practices, and self-injury, using a harm reduction approach. The emphasis is on meeting individuals “where they are at” and providing non-judgmental, non-coercive services, and resources to individuals. In addition, the Harm Reduction Specialist provides consultation, education, training, and support to other care providers in their work with participants.
Collect data as required by all funding, licensing and accreditation bodies.
Complete training in the Homelessness Management Information System (HMIS) mandated by the RI Continuum of Care (RICOC) and administered by the RI Coalition to End Homelessness.
Work closely with Program Managers and the Contract Manager to complete reporting expectations associated with this grant, as well as other funding, licensing and accreditation bodies.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIRED:
High School diploma or equivalency.
Lived or work experience in related field preferred.
Bilingual preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Ability to climb stairs; willingness to work outdoors much of the time.
Valid drivers’ license and willing to transport clients in accordance with safety protocols.
