Profile

The Instructional Technologist reports to the Director of eLearning and works closely with other instructional and information technology staff. The position provides instructor-led and virtual group and individual training, consultation, and some support for instructional applications utilized by faculty, students and staff (primarily the Canvas learning management system). Additionally, the position may require providing instructional design support to faculty creating online and hybrid learning experiences.
The position will require some shifts in schedule to include time in the evening and weekend.

The successful candidate will be dynamic and flexible, able to multitask and adjust to varying needs, able to adjust schedule to meet seasonal needs, proficient in customer service and demonstrate excellent communication skills.
Requirements:
Education / Experience:
Bachelor degree in a field related to instructional technology/designer education; appropriate work experience will be considered
A minimum of one year of experience providing instructor-led training for instructional applications and related technologies, preferably in a higher education setting
Skills:
Demonstrate technical competence and knowledge of the primary components of learning management systems
Demonstrate the ability to create training materials for online and offline consumption using common applications (i.e. Captivate, Camtasia, web editing & graphic software)
Demonstrate good troubleshooting, critical thinking, and analytical capabilities
Demonstrate knowledge of general system operations (OS, browsers, supporting applications) as they relate to instructional technology applications; prefer basic knowledge of both PC and Mac platforms
Demonstrate proficiency with common PC software suites such as MS Office
Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
Demonstrate professional and consistent oral and written communication methods
Responsibilities:
Contact for instructional technology training related issues
Train faculty to use instructional technology or to integrate technology with teaching
Develops user guides, self-help documentation, and tutorials for online and offline use
Works with the Director to identify and deploy training schedules and sessions
Performs application testing and evaluation tasks, assists with new application implementations and upgrades
Works with the Director and other support personnel to assist users with technical issues associated with the course management system.
Assists with general departmental needs
Assists with development of instructional materials for design of courses, including online and blended learning programs.
Backup for tier 1 support dealing with instructional technology issues
Other duties as assigned
This position is part-time that requires 20-25 regular office hours per week with some night and weekend work commitments as needed.
