Duties: The candidate will serve as an assistant to a District principal assistant, with assigned responsibility for the small sales and salvage timber sale program. Will negotiate sale or conducts auctions and awards contracts within delegated authority. Administer small sales contracts and free use in accordance with applicable directives. Recommend silvicultural prescriptions to treat or salvage timber through sales. Provide oversight of field reconnaissance to collect data and appraise products. Select cutting areas for free use program. Determine method of sale and special sale requirements based on current conditions. Develop methods to ensure all products removed are accounted for. Establish a program, including annual and five-year plans, for small sales of timber products and for free use of forest products. Analyze condition in areas affected by drought, insects, disease, wind damage, or fire. Coordinate small sale program with management of other District resources. Analyze environmental impacts to ensure documented reports are complete. Ensure that sale reports and documents are completed and sales are closed. Prepare written environmental assessment reports in support of the National Environmental Policy Act.
