Associate General Counsel - Corporate
The candidate will leads and develops corporate law team to appropriately distribute workload among attorneys, paralegals and legal assistants to meet the demands of the business. Identifies new and evolving legal requirements applicable to retailers and conceives corresponding strategies to mitigate risks to Company. Selects and supervises outside counsel, if/as needed, to execute legal strategies in an operationally efficient and cost-effective manner. Analyzes a broad range of complex legal issues to provide strategic legal counsel and drive resolution of legal matters, consistent with Company objectives, best interests and overall strategy. Drafts, reviews and negotiates a variety of commercial agreements. Develops policies, processes and forms to minimize legal exposure and educate Company leadership on legal considerations, risks and ramifications. Leads legal projects end-to-end, including reforms to business practices if/as needed to comply with applicable laws and to attenuate risks. Maintains a solid knowledge of the Company’s business strategies, operations and objectives. Anticipates, monitors and communicates evolving developments in the law impacting Company’s business. Identifies and tracks key trends to inform risk profiles and develop mitigation strategies. Influences and educates Company leadership on legal implications relevant to its respective business area(s). Develops training and other business resources to champion legal awareness and drive compliance.
