Duties

• Handle all aspects of professional liability defense cases from inception through trial or resolution
• Represent clients in court hearings, depositions, arbitrations, and mediations
• Draft pleadings, discovery responses, motions, and legal memoranda
• Evaluate legal risks and provide strategic legal counsel to clients
• Conduct complex legal research related to malpractice and professional negligence claims
• Collaborate with partners, associates, and support staff to manage litigation workload
• Communicate effectively with clients, insurance carriers, and opposing counsel

Requirements

• 7 years of litigation experience with a focus on professional liability defense
• Strong background in defending claims against professionals (e.g., attorneys, accountants, engineers, etc.)
• Active license to practice law in California
• Trial experience or significant experience in all phases of litigation

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications

• Member in good standing of the California State Bar

Skills

• Advanced knowledge of professional liability laws and procedures
• Strong legal writing, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills
• Ability to manage a high-volume caseload independently
