In this role, the position reports to the Sr. Director of Engineering for MPEx. As Director of the Systems Engineering, Integration and Test Department, the successful candidate will provide systems engineering leadership to the SEI&T Department, MPEx Engineering and MPEx Business Units, while supporting GA-ASI business objectives.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Overall responsibility for systems engineering activities on all MPEx projects and programs. Will provide input and support for planning and execution of development and production programs, consisting (but not limited to) project planning, flow down of requirements to subsystems, functional decomposition, system/sub-system architecture and interface definitions, resource allocation, development and execution of trade studies, test plan development, and preparation of relevant reports and briefings. Will also include refinement and application of system engineering standards and processes for MPEx. Provide leadership and direct all activities of the SEI&T Department including planning and managing technical performance to ensure quality, business and financial objectives are attained.Participate in and support input for contractual negotiations and contract modifications.Participate in the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets and financial terms/conditions of contract(s).Act as the primary contact for the Department’s activities, lead progress review sessions to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance.Establish design concepts and architectures, criteria and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration and testing.Establish the Department’s master plan(s) and milestones and monitor adherence to master plan and schedules.Identify engineering issues and provides leadership in developing solutions such as re-allocation of resources or modifying contract specifications.Develop and implement annual and long-term technical, schedule, quality, business, and financial objectives for the program(s)/project(s) and participate in the development of Department/Division/Company objectives.Direct and actively participate in the development of new businesses, and expansion of existing business opportunities, and participate with Department/Division/Company management in pursuing business partnerships, alliances, and joint ventures that enhance the capabilities of the Department/Division/Company.Direct and actively participate in the planning, attraction, selection, retention, and development of human resources to primarily staff the SEI&T Department, while also assisting the other groups.We recognize and appreciate the value and contributions of individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences and welcome all qualified individuals to apply.Job QualificationsTypically requires a Bachelors, Masters or PhD in engineering or a related technical field as well as fifteen or more years of progressively complex engineering experience with at least nine of those years having management responsibilities. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.Must have a background in architecting, designing and/or building sensor/datalink/communications products & solutions for aircraft, preferably unmanned aircraft. Must be able to demonstrate extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice as well as comprehensive project management and leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones. Must possess the ability to resolve complex management and technical problems. Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, and government representatives. Must be customer focused, must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment, and able to work extended hours and travel as required.Ability to communicate with customers, and to manage customer expectations is required. Must possess a demonstrated technical background in development of mission CONOPS, development and maintenance of system requirements, system architecture and system design, preferably in the areas of sensor/datalink/communications products for manned or unmanned aircraft. Previous experience contributing to the design, development and manufacture of unmanned aircraft is a huge plus.Previous experience in system model-based design tools for radar/RF, optical, and/or electronic sensor technologies and development activities is desired. Willingness and ability to support new business development efforts are essential and required. Knowledge of DoD requirements generation and military system acquisition processes is highly desirable.Professional Engineering License, and original work(s) published in professional engineering journals are desirable.
