The candidate reports to the VP, Deputy General Counsel of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.. This role assists in managing employment-related and commercial litigation; overseeing CBA negotiations and other traditional labor issues; and non-compete matters. The Director, Associate General Counsel also counsels management and Human Resources leaders on a wide range of associate relations issues, providing practical, business-minded legal guidance. Additionally, the individual in this role will interact with and advise senior management and business leaders across PFG’s business segments on a variety of topics. S/he will drive process improvements and promote a culture of compliance. Manages single-plaintiff employment litigation claims from inception to resolution, including demand letter responses, assigning and managing outside counsel, and assessing litigation costs, risks, and resolution options. Assists the Legal Department in overseeing CBA negotiations, responses to union campaigns, and other traditional labor matters (grievances, ULPs, etc.); advises the business, particularly the field, on positive employee relations. Assists business and HR in drafting and responding to non-compete cease and desist letters, as well as resulting litigation. Provides counseling to HR and business leaders on a wide variety of employment law areas such as Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FLSA, NLRA, the WARN Act, EPA, etc. Oversees the Company’s subpoena responses. Works collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders and develops strong partnerships with operating leaders by providing excellent legal guidance and facilitating efficient resolution of legal and commercial questions. Proactively engages operating teams to review and evaluate business practices for legal risk. Performs other related duties as assigned. Juris Doctorate / JD from Tier 1 law school. 5-10 years in a large law firm and/or in-house legal department of a large organization. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; excellent legal judgment; strong client service skills; experience working in a matrixed, decentralized environment; proven ability to work with senior management, including top-level executives; strong, pragmatic business acumen with the ability to recognize and communicate the business consequences of legal advice; strong project management skills and work ethic, with great attention to detail and a "roll up the sleeves" attitude; must be a team player. Employment, labor, and litigation, experience is preferred. Preferred Professional Certification: Active, licensed member in good standing at least one U.S. state bar.
