Description

This Lead Actuary role requires a leader who is a creative thinker and is energized to build something from the ground-up. This team will start with a blank canvas to develop a forecasting system that will catapult the Employer Group Actuarial forecast into an advanced future state. This leader will contribute and influence a team of actuarial developers on the execution of the vision. After the development of this system is complete, this leader will have a unique opportunity to play the critical role of ongoing deployment to ensure the system is accurate and contemporary to the industry and Segment needs. The Lead Actuary, Analytics/Forecasting works on problems of diverse scope and complexity ranging from moderate to substantial.

Responsibilities

The Lead Actuary in this role will be expected to own the tactical development and deployment of the forecast system. This will require collaboration with stakeholders to understand business needs/issue, troubleshoots problems, and conducting root cause analysis along with their direct reports. Expected to be the owner of the forecast output that will advise executives to develop functional strategies (often segment specific) on matters of significance. This will require independent judgment and decision making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks, while working under minimal supervision; uses independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors and determining the best course of action

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree

FSA or ASA plus relevant advanced degree, recent and relevant work experience, and/or other relevant professional designations.

MAAA

Strong communication skills

Experience in more than two functions (e.g., modeling, pricing, rate filing, reporting & analysis, reserving or trending)

Experience in forecasting and forecasting development

Prior work in claims trend forecasting

Has lead a team in the past

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in coding, e.g., SAS, VBA, Python, etc.

Prior experience in the Commercial Insurance Segment
