Business Development Specialist
The candidate will work closely with the Business Development Associate Director to become familiar with the practice's offerings, clients and markets, including understanding of clients’ commercial objectives and marketplace. Conduct and analyze client, prospect, industry and market research and work with Business Development Associate Director to determine a strategy for outreach. Develop an understanding of the background and experience of our lawyers, and a practical understanding of how/why clients leverage their skills. Develop and project manage cross-selling initiatives, including through internal communications that promote recent successes and other relevant developments. Serve as the BD lead in new business presentations, proposals and RFP responses; collaborate with business development colleagues to create materials that differentiate the firm in a way that generates substantial new business, and track/measure all relevant activity. Work with the senior team and practice leadership to develop and execute annual strategic plans and budgets. Work with Business Development Associate Director and Events team to plan and manage department events such as seminars, conferences, client events, webinars and trade show appearances, including oversight of event logistics, internal and external communications, marketing and sales planning, and follow-up activities. Often acting as a liaison between attorneys and firm-wide business development colleagues to ensure successful completion of events. Project manage various practice area, sector specific and/or firm strategic initiatives. Proactively collect feedback after events and encourage follow-up activities. Report on return on investment. Work with the PR team to further the practice’s visibility objectives and provide guidance and ideas on key hot topics and trends facing the industry. Identify speaking, writing, sponsorship and other thought leadership opportunities to highlight the firm’s expertise and innovative culture. Work with and help oversee the Business Development Coordinator on various projects and initiatives within the department. Develop submissions for directories and awards, and seek and assess additional opportunities for recognition as related to the practice. Create and maintain practice-specific marketing collateral. Work with CRM team on maintaining target mailing lists and client contact information. Collaborate with the team on developing, refining and sharing firm-wide client development protocols, procedures and best practices. Learn Proskauer-specific tools and applications as necessary to perform certain research or other related job duties. Liaise with other members of the Client Development team to ensure website content reflects current practice highlights and trends.
