A law firm in Austin, Texas, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Attorney to join the growing Medical Records and Investigations team. The candidate will play a crucial role in processing medical records, conducting investigations, and collaborating with legal teams to ensure comprehensive support for cases. The role requires effective communication, attention to detail, and a Juris Doctorate (JD).

 

Duties:

  • Join the growing Medical Records and Investigations team.
  • Process medical records and billing requests from attorneys.
  • Draft and submit medical records and billing requests for retrieval.
  • Track and process received medical records and bills.
  • Follow up on pending requests and those requiring additional information or documentation.
  • Work closely with the team to provide status updates on medical records.
  • Ensure adherence to policies and procedures during record processing.
  • Ensure completion and accuracy of received records, troubleshooting any issues with incomplete records.
  • Communicate with teams to address issues regarding records.
  • Communicate with healthcare providers and verify all provider information.
  • Manage file organization, including daily filing of mail and faxes.
  • Work closely with lawyers and staff on all investigative matters.
  • Locate and interview witnesses, inspect evidence, and conduct background checks and reports.
  • Prepare and write investigative reports.
  • Create scene diagrams.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree required.
  • Previous experience in the legal or medical field is a plus.

 

Education:

Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

 

Skills:

  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to process medical records and billing requests efficiently.
  • Investigative skills, including locating witnesses, inspecting evidence, and conducting background checks.
  • Proficiency in file management and record-keeping.
