Senior Legal Counsel
Responsibilities: Responsible for reviewing will and trust agreements where the bank is named in a fiduciary capacity in order protect the bank, comply with the law, and satisfy client expectations. Analyze complex new business proposals assessing and communicating legal risk and identifying options and solutions. Manage trust-paid litigation by working with outside counsel and the business line and serve as the subject matter expert in trusts and estates on litigation managed by internal litigation partners. Leverage relationships with centers of influence to promote the bank and further business objectives. Promote the bank by speaking at bar and industry conferences and/or being involved in developing relevant state legislation. Participate in various task forces and bank-wide committees to advise on legal risk and compliance issues. Advise management on corporate legal rights, obligations, and privileges relating to trust products and services. Examine legal documents to determine advisability of defending or prosecuting lawsuits. Review documents to ensure that the bank is in compliance with legal guidelines and regulations. Communicate with partners and clients on compliance issues. Updates and maintains related procedures.
