POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Technical Consultant is responsible for the development of client solution architecture based on the requirements outlined in the Application Design Document. The incumbent will serve as the technical consultant for both internal and external teams to manage the technical delivery and risks associated with the software implementation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions:
Project Delivery Responsibilities:
Produce technical specifications that meet the client’s business needs requirements through the Technical Design section of the Application Design Document (ADD)
Manage the development for all product configurations, product integrations, and business rules
Perform data mapping from the client’s system
Manage all software environments including product packaging, client build specifications, and product customizations working with IT infrastructure
Provide technical solutions and guidance throughout the implementation cycle for both the external and internal teams
Coordinate with the client’s implementation team to identify and mitigate any technical issues that may potentially impact delivery
Provide client technical consulting services to meet the delivery objectives including interface with the clients’ IT and technical teams
Provide support and triage issues during the user acceptance testing phase.
Provide support to the quality assurance team
Coordinate activities and communication of technical requirements with internal and external teams
Design and develop modifications and enhancements to core Datacert software products in a team environment
Develop core application frameworks for all of Datacert’s product lines
Project Operations Responsibilities:
Provide post-production support to client
Assist program manager and business analyst in managing technical risks
Assist program manager in identifying and
challenging scope and work estimates that seem extraordinary, providing acceptable alternatives as needed
Participate in continuous improvement efforts
Mentor more junior or 3
rd
party contract resources in development best practices
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Licenses and Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree required preferably in computer science, MIS, engineering or a related field
Experience:
Minimum 6-9 years of development experience, minimum 3 years of JAVA or .NET experience
Minimum 3 year of client facing support or consulting role
Minimum 6 years of experience with at least one type of relational database (SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase)
Minimum 1 year experience with Apache Tomcat and IIS
Experience with RUP or similar SDLC/implementation methodologies
Mixed front-end and back-end skills
SQL Server experience or Oracle development experience
Web development experience, JavaScript and Java server-side technologies (J2SE/J2EE)
Experience with Groovy, JRuby, Drools/Drools Flow, JBPM/JBOSS or JQuery is a plus
Experience developing commercial, enterprise software a plus
Critical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:
Strong knowledge of integration and implementation of enterprise resource planning systems
Strong professional consulting skills (i.e. negotiation, client relationship management, scope management)
Confident and assertive in both verbal and written communications skills
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong organizational, multi-tasking and time management skills
Ability to work with virtual teams
Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
Ability to adapt to change and maintain a positive attitude
Ability to be a results-oriented self-starter requiring minimal supervision
Legal industry knowledge preferred
Ability to creatively design and implement software solutions in a high-energy, fast-paced, and Agile development environment
Ability to work in a highly collaborative, distributed teamwork-based, environment
Ability to independently provide right-sized solutions to business problems
Proven problem solving and troubleshooting skill and the capacity to think creatively under pressure
Excellent documentation and communication skills
Experience in Agile / SCRUM development practices preferred
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS OR INFORMATION
Ability to travel up to 80% at any given time
Compliance with company and department policies including but not limited to accurate, timely and complete data tracking in Datacert’s system(s) of record, adherence to IT information security and HR policies
