The Director, Information Technology (IT) for Esterline Power Systems (EPS) will execute on the needs of the business and interface with corporate IT leadership on global IT initiatives and standards while maintaining or establishing a positive relationship between IT and the business.
This role has the responsibility of working with EPS leadership to determine the IT prioritization across the platform. This role will work directly with the EPS unit presidents and platform president to ensure adequate budget for upcoming IT initiatives, evaluate the IT staff within the business units, make IT staffing decisions as needed, and roll out global initiatives that are directed by Enterprise IT.
The Director, IT is responsible for understanding the business, ensuring that projects align with technology that provides the maximum return on investment, and directing IT in support of the overall business strategy. Significant knowledge in subject matter areas pertaining to both IT and the business is needed to identify needs and envisage business solutions.
What You Will Do
Own the relationship for IT with the EPS platform and business unit leadership
Manage EPS platform IT team members
Liaise with the Enterprise IT teams to develop technology strategies for the business units which align within the overall business and IT strategy
Manage IT service delivery and operations within the platform
Act as the Subject Matter Expert for EPS business units as they work to achieve the business unit objectives and ensure the units are leveraging technology to achieve business unit objectives
Prepare cost benefit analyses for projects, serve as the platform IT leader and Subject Matter Expert with business stakeholders in prioritizing projects
Work with stakeholders, project teams, and IT governance group to prioritize requirements
Ensure the alignment of projects with the technology that provides maximum ROI
Lead the requirements-gathering processes, and develop strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processes
Lead the IT annual budgeting and planning process for the assigned platform and participate in the individual business units budgeting process
Manage the platform IT spend and IT savings initiatives against the budget
Develop and drive Service Level Agreement (SLA) negotiations to enhance value to the business unit
Identify and leverage IT synergy potentials across business units
Develop recommendations for joint or coordinated application project delivery across platforms and business units in collaboration with other platform-level Directors, Information Technology
Follow up and supervise the selection of appropriate IT solutions and ensure that the functional requirements are fully met by the solution
Develop and communicate IT innovation and awareness programs
Understand and live by Esterline’s ethics and business conduct policies.
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree required. Concentration in Computer Science or Information Systems is highly preferred.
15 years of IT experience with a broad range of exposure to various technical environments and business segments
10 years of IT leadership experience, including leading global IT teams
Ability to understand the organization’s business goals and objectives; ability to communicate complex business requirements to the technology teams
Demonstrated knowledge of the organization’s core business processes and operations, along with the strategic use of technology to grow a business
Strong ability to connect and build relationships with customers
Proven experience with business and technical requirements analyses, elicitation, modeling, verification, and methodology development
Demonstrated project portfolio management skills, including project planning, budgeting, and controlling processes, and valuing IT investments
An understanding of application development and software development life cycle concepts
An ability to understand and communicate/present detailed and advanced business solutions
An ability to communicate up and down the management chain, providing the appropriate level of detail and focus on the right information
Ability to travel up to 25%, both in the US and international
Ability to write/speak Spanish or French a plus
