Senior Research Associate - Biofuel R&D Application Research, Franklinton NC

We are seeking an energetic, results oriented, collaborative colleague to join our Biofuel R&D application research team. As a Senior Research Associate, you will work closely with your colleagues to develop and apply enzyme and yeast solutions for biofuel production.

The ideal candidate will be able to creatively apply a background knowledge in chemistry, biochemistry, and/or microbiology to develop new products for manipulating a variety of biopolymers including starch, fiber, and protein, and to help foster the introduction of these products into the biofuels and related industries. Experience working with advanced analytics tools is desired, specifically tools that can shed light on the underlying modes of action for the products being developed, with the goal of streamlining the development of next generation products. You will frequently collaborate with cross-functional and global project teams in a stimulating and dynamic work environment in which a broad range of experience and knowledge can be brought to bear on new and exciting challenges in the biofuels industry.

In this position, you need to have:

BS/MS in Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry, Microbiology, or related area

Experience with biochemical assay development as well as

enzyme product development

Hands on experience in mass spectrometry, advanced microsocopy, chromatography, protein chemistry and/or other analytical techniques will be a plus

Familiarity with automation and high-throughput applications based liquid handling operation and methods programing

Experience with statistical tools such as JMP

Excellent communication skills and good interpersonal and teamwork skills
