The Associate Attorney will provide expert legal counsel and representation in bankruptcy/collection or civil law litigation matters. Duties:

  • Treat all clients fairly and respectfully, providing fair payment solutions tailored to their financial circumstances.
  • Conduct legal research, prepare legal documents, and deliver oral arguments in court proceedings.
  • Manage a high-volume caseload efficiently, providing expert analysis and advice on legal and regulatory risks.
  • Negotiate with opposing counsel to reach final resolutions of cases, prioritizing client interests.
  • Travel to various courts within the state of Virginia as needed for legal representation and court hearings.
  • Collaborate with the Managing Attorney to accurately report all case activity and outcomes.

Requirements:

  • 0-2 years of experience in bankruptcy/collection or civil law litigation, including attending court proceedings and knowledge of associated regulations.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in Virginia; additional licenses in other states within the firm's footprint (NC, SC, TN, FL, GA, MD, MI, OH) are a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of Federal Debt Collection Law and State civil litigation laws.
  • Ability to analyze case law thoroughly and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exemplary oral and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding time management skills to effectively handle multiple tasks and deadlines.

Education/Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in Virginia.
