The Plant Manager is responsible for managing Watson’s production team and manufacturing system in a way that ensures orders are produced on time, safely, and at a high-quality level, in a productive manner. This is a hands-on role responsible for the effective leadership of the Production Supervisors, Maintenance Team and a total of 125+ manufacturing employees. The Plant Manager reports directly to the VP of Operations and works closely with the Scheduling & Sourcing Manager, and the Engineering Manager.

Essential functions and job duties:

  • Improve workflow policies that enhance efficiency without compromising safety or product integrity.
  • Partner closely with Safety Leader to promote and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Create, communicate and manage work schedules for employees to ensure optimum staffing levels.
  • Directly engage with supervisors, team leads and production team members to improve the standards for efficiency and teamwork.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to increase throughput, quality, and safety performance.
  • Responsible for direct labor performance to budget.
  • Reviews production product quality and ensures root cause and corrective action investigations are done effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Provide evaluation, motivation, support, and guidance to assigned factory employees.  Lead and coach employees, as well as partner with HR to recruit and maintain a motivated team.
  • In cooperation with the Maintenance Manager, responsible for keeping production machines and the Watson facility operating at the highest level to meet business needs.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Operations Management or similar fields
  • Prefer 10 years of manufacturing experience, 5 years of which must be leadership
  • High degree of urgency with a passion for taking projects to the finish line
  • Demonstrated ability to act tactically and think strategically
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and employee relations skills
  • Demonstrated strong situational awareness with ability to predict and mitigate system level risks to safety, quality, and throughput
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. and ability to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms for most of the day
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing principles and methods. Experience in make-to-order manufacturing a plus
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office and ERP/MES software)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead throughput and quality improvement initiatives
