Senior Environmental Claims Specialist

The candidate should be experienced claims professional responsible for managing and adjusting high severity environmental claims. Identifies, analyzes and appropriately addresses coverage issues under excess/umbrella coverage forms. Effectively communicates coverage positions to insureds and brokers under limited supervision. Proactively manages and addresses liability and damages to assess exposure on potentially high severity files. Leads and manages the claim investigation into loss facts and extent of third-party damages. Directs and manages defense counsel, experts and consultants so that best outcomes are obtained on files. Sets timely and appropriate reserves within authority or makes recommendations for the appropriate action plan on potentially high severity claims. Frequently travels to settlement conferences, mediations, and trials as needed. Strong team player. Should have a high degree of specialized and technical competence in the handling of environmental claims. 3+ years of environmental claim handling experience. College degree or equivalent business experience. JD preferred. Ability to think and work independently and assimilate learning materials on many different subjects from various sources. Excellent interpersonal communications and negotiation skills. Ability to work with sophisticated accounts and brokers in a professional manner.
