Under the direction of the Radiology Director and Chief of Radiology, supports patient care activities, which include transporting patients, moving patients, and supporting co-workers to complete departmental job duties. Exhibits a high degree of tact, courtesy, and poise when interacting with patients, staff, and visitors.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Orients technical and nursing staff, and students to transport activities and hospital procedure.

Understands written and verbal instructions pertaining to operating equipment and carrying out job duties.

Maintains knowledge and awareness of safety issues and practices.  Participates in the department Quality Management Program.

Maintains a high standard of personal hygiene and professional ethics.  Adheres to the facility dress code and attendance policy.

Transports all patients and equipment in safe and efficient manner.

Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills with all customers.

Works effectively in conjunction with all nursing, technical and medical staff, both internal and external.

Works to expedite the transport of patients to meet the operational and scheduling needs of the various imaging sections in the imaging services department.

Must have a demonstrated history of excellence service skills exhibited by courtesy, cooperative spirit, and tact when interacting with employees, members, and visitors of all ages.

Performs any other duties as required.

Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an incumbent encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Frequent exposure to inpatients and outpatients who may be experiencing a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
