A law firm seeks a dedicated full-time associate attorney to join its litigation team in Jacksonville Beach, FL. The firm is looking for candidates with at least two years of experience, particularly in criminal law or civil litigation. The ideal candidate will possess strong legal research and writing skills, as well as the ability to manage a caseload effectively. This position offers the opportunity to grow within a supportive and dynamic legal environment, with exposure to a variety of legal matters.

Duties:

  • Legal Research: Conduct comprehensive legal research using Westlaw, Florida Rules of Civil Procedure (Fla. R. Civ. P.), and Criminal Procedure (Fla. R. Crim. P.).
  • Document Preparation: Draft and prepare key legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests, briefs, and other filings.
  • Court Representation: Gain valuable courtroom experience by attending hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings.
  • Client Interaction: Interview and communicate with clients, witnesses, and opposing counsel to gather information and provide legal advice.
  • Collaboration: Work with senior attorneys and other team members to develop case strategies and ensure effective case management.

Requirements:

  • Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in litigation, preferably in criminal law or civil litigation.
  • Skills:
    • Strong legal research and writing abilities.
    • Proficient in drafting legal documents, including motions and briefs.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.
    • Client-focused with the ability to interact professionally with all parties involved.
  • Licensing: Must be a member in good standing with the Florida Bar.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Florida Bar admission (or pending admission) is required.

Skills:

  • Legal Research: Familiarity with tools such as Westlaw and legal databases.
  • Drafting: Ability to draft clear, concise legal documents.
  • Client Relations: Comfortable conducting client interviews and managing client communication.
  • Courtroom Experience: Familiarity with the litigation process and appearing in court.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively as part of a team while managing individual responsibilities.
