Trusts & Estates/Tax Senior Legal Assistant
The candidate will assist in preparing estate planning documents, transactional documents, Internal Revenue Service (IRS) forms, beneficiary designation forms and draft documents as needed. Process executed documents and prepares correspondence to clients, accountants and family offices enclosing copies and/or original executed estate planning documents and/or transaction binders. Gather, review and organize asset information for eventual probate and estate tax reporting. Prepare and/or coordinate the preparation of probate filings, electronic probate filings and estate tax return filings both locally and throughout the United States. Coordinate with out-of-state legal assistants at other Arnold & Porter locations and other counsel’s offices to assist with local probate and tax filings. Prepare and file various IRS forms. Assist in compiling documents for and prepare responses to IRS audit requests. Prepare illustrations for various components of estate and trust administrations – asset structures; estate and trust administrations and disposition of assets. Prepare estate and trust annual accountings. Should have high school diploma, with a four-year college degree is strongly preferred. Should have 3+ years of Trust and Estate legal assistant experience. Accounting, estate planning and tax preparation experience is a plus. Familiarity with One Source Trust & Estate Administration (Thompson Reuters), Estate Val, Gift Val, Estate Planning Tools, Superforms and Internal Revenue Service website for completing various miscellaneous forms is required.
