Government Contracting Counsel
The candidate will be responsible for monitoring and, when appropriate and in alignment with key internal stakeholders, influencing changing regulatory requirements and for developing and implementing guidance, policies, and legal strategies to assure the success and compliance of U.S. selling divisions with federal contracting requirements. Will develop and cultivate external relationships with industry and government partners that are strategic to growing Stryker’s federal business in a compliant manner. Will be a proactive and results-oriented strategic thought partner and trusted advisor, responsible for delivering practical, business-sensitive solutions, supporting management and leading cross-functional teams on discrete, departmental intitiatives in a fast-paced environment. Duties : Acts in a proactive and strategic manner as a subject matter expert in the Legal function by providing specialized and strategic legal expertise in the area of U.S. federal contracting; Reviews, interprets, and provides guidance on the negotiation of agreements and contracts with the U.S. federal government and proactively handles matters through to resolution related to Stryker’s U.S. government sales; Develops and implements legal strategies, and works directly with and advises the Government Contracts office to develop and implement policies and guidance to assure sustainable compliance with federal contracting obligations, laws, regulations, and federal policy. Works in directly with the Director, Government Contracting to drive the development of programs to mitigate risk and address potential liabilities; Maintains close professional relationships with key stakeholders at VA and DoD; Develops and provides in-house training and education; Provides timely and strategic advice and counsel to senior management by advising the business on laws, regulations, and Stryker policies; Possesses extensive knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework concerning the sale and marketing of medical devices/technologies to federal customers including matters related to fraud and abuse, procurement, and government ethics laws and regulations; Networks effectively to achieve resolution of matters outside of direct subject matter expertise or responsibility; Collaborates and communicates with colleagues, senior management, and outside counsel on issues related to government contracts and sales; Develops and recommends innovative process improvements to effectively address business needs that can be implemented across the Legal function; Identifies and resolves highly complex legal, regulatory, and business issues.
