Profile
Under general direction the Radiologic Technologist operates Radiology equipment to make radiographs of designated portions of the body as ordered by the doctor. Follows established protocol for safety rules and regulations as described in the Center policies and procedures manual in compliance with National and State Regulations. Obtains twelve hours of Continued Education Units in Radiology yearly or twenty-four every 2 yrs. Performs clerical duties as necessary to maintain the department functional, organized, and be able to work in an efficient manner. Performs other duties as required to achieve organizational goals and objectives. These duties include Dexa Exams, EKG’s, apply holtier monitor, hearing and vision screening, spirometry tests as ordered by Provider.
Duties:
Must be professional in dealing with patients and the public via personal and telephone contacts.
Must greet patients, customers, and general public in a courteous manner.
Demonstrate positive attitude towards patients with good eye contact, pleasant voice, attentive and responsive to their needs
Follows the Guidelines for Digital Radiology Equipment Operations and Documentation
Operates equipment to make radiographs of designated portions of the body only when ordered by Provider.
Instructs patients on the proper preparation for X-rays to assure that organs show clearly in the X-ray picture, providing for the patient's safety.
o Adjusts radiology equipment to the correct setting for each examination.
Avoids over exposure to radiation to patients and self.
Provides adequate documentation of the study
Follows protocol for safety rules and regulations as described in the Center policies and procedures manual in compliance with National and State regulations.
Performs special procedures upon the request of a Medical Provider following the corresponding operating guide/instructions manual, such as:
EKG
Audio and Vision Test
Tympanograms
Bone Density Test following Operator’s Manual Procedure.
Assist in the performance of Ultrasounds as necessary.
Performs the clerical duties necessary to maintain the department functional and in an organized and efficient manner.
Performs related duties as requires in the maintenance of the Department
Follows warm-up procedures for x-ray machine
Reports any malfunction to the DON.
Must maintain an inventory of supplies
Follows infection control policies as prescribed in the policy and procedures manual.
Gain and Understand Knowledge of PCMH model, PCMH principles, policies, and procedures
Maintains the standard of patient care by following job duties and responsibilities within their scope of practice in accordance with regulatory agencies, licensure, PCMH and according to Center needs.
The RT must follow a systematic process to: Communicate with staff, with other departments, with regulatory agencies, and with outside entities to assure that patients have a pleasant and satisfactory experience in the manner in which their health care is delivered, managed and coordinated, while the patient participates in the decision-making. Must communicate and document problems that occur with patients, providers and other departments.
Meets the continuing educational requirements as needed by the professional accrediting agency (twenty-four hours every 2 years) to meet license and/or maintain competence
Maintains confidentiality at all times in accordance to HIPAA regulations and Center policies.
In conjunction with the DON and Chief of Clinical Services, will recommend the upgrade or purchasing of new equipment.
Works closely with supervisor, providers, and staff to productively serve the patient, maximize patient care and assures that patients receive the services needed.
The RT must respect the patient’s rights and responsibilities established within the clinic.
The RT must enhance customer satisfaction daily.
It is mandatory that the employee actively participate in Performance Improvement Projects aimed at improving patient care, outcomes, and efficiency.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Current enrollment in an accredited radiology program. Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) is required.
Must be registered with the Texas Department of Health
At least three years of experience in radiology preferred.
Knowledge to perform and implement radiology policies and procedures. Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
