Title IX Investigator
Duties: Serving as a member of a team that provides administrative, educational, and intellectual leadership to support the University’s Title IX compliance requirements. Will conduct investigations of all allegations or violations of Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence Policy (PDF) and The Threats and Acts of Violence Policy (PDF) and Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972, including allegations pertaining to sexual harassment, sexual violence, relationship violence and stalking. A key partner in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local anti-discrimination laws related to sexual misconduct. requires sound judgment in applying prevailing legal principles and standards to solve complex problems with decisive action and an ability to sensitively handle complaint intake from various members of the community in order to determine whether to investigate or make an appropriate referral. Conducts investigations of complaints of sexual harassment and sexual violence against students, faculty and staff. Interviews complainants, respondents, witnesses. Manage, review and analyze relevant documentation, physical evidence, or statistical information. Travel to the various campus sites and surrounding areas to conduct interviews. Develop an investigative plan for complaints and incidents reports. Contact all involved parties and provide them with information about the investigative process. Work with the appropriate University offices during the course of the investigations. Maintain accurate and thorough case files and reports. Maintain an unbiased approach and appropriate level of confidentiality throughout the process. Develop and prepare comprehensive reports based on facts revealed in investigations. Analyze applicable laws and GW policies, factual background, summaries of allegations and witness interviews, and recommendations. Provide input and/or testimony as needed in hearings or other disciplinary proceedings that stem from the investigations. Assist the Title IX Coordinator and the Title IX Response Coordinator with training programs for faculty, staff, and students on specific topics related to sexual assault prevention and response. Assist with intake consultation for complaint allegations. Performs other work duties as assigned.
