Description

This position is responsible for completing maintenance on the Tyson Fleet and outside carrier owned tractor & trailers while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.

Tasks

PBX refrigeration mechanics are expected to keep the Tyson Fleet in good running order including maintenance on outside carrier owned equipment. This includes troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing all equipment, tractors and trailers, the paperwork associated with the work and any other duties assigned. The position requires performing work involving 12 volt electrical systems, engine repair as well as some welding. Must be able to work in various positions and walk and stand on hard surfaces for a period of 8-10 hours. Work is performed both outdoors and indoors in a mixed environment; from extreme hot/cold; wet/dry. The position requires use of hands and arms above shoulder level and the ability to push, pull, carry and lift 40 pounds or more. Willing to complete all required training for the job and perform any other duties assigned.

Requirements

Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to work safely in a fast paced environment; wearing all safety equipment required. PBX runs 7 days a week, normally working either 4 or 5 day shifts and including weekends on some shifts. Must be able to work the shift(s) that is currently open. Must be mechanically inclined and be able to communicate effectively to all employees and management to resolve mechanical failures as well as be able to read manuals in order to assemble or repair equipment safely. Prefer but not required; previous mechanical/refrigeration experience or equivalent training and federal certification in refrigeration mechanics.
