The Sr. Product Marketing Manager is the business owner of a defined market segment(s) and is responsible for marketing strategies that will drive revenue growth within the segment(s). Primary responsibilities of this role are to build a deep understanding of the market segment challenges and business needs and create strategies and programs to optimize ControlScan’s success in the market segment(s). Specifically, this role has direct responsibility for the overall product messaging, positioning, marketing and sales readiness for one or more market segments. This role is also responsible for managing the processes that relate to upstream and downstream product marketing activities for designated market segments, including customer and vertical market research, segmentation, positioning, messaging, competitive analysis and pricing while remaining consistent with corporate brand and customer philosophies. You will actively develop and execute concepts, planning, implementation and evaluation of campaigns, programs, promotions and new product launches, while utilizing company resources to achieve annual sales, market share and profitability objectives.
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, results-driven product marketing professional, where leadership skills and technical depth are critical success factors. This role must not be afraid to roll up their sleeves and dive deep into issues to understand key competitive challenges, demonstrate competency to work across all teams as well as be highly skilled at motivating others without direct management authority.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ControlScan product marketing activities include the following:
· Develops and implements annual business plans which provide an analysis of the competitive environment and clearly define product positioning, key issue strategies and target audiences for assigned market segments .
Defines go to market plans and establishes objectives for assigned market segments.
· Translate segment specific market trends, customer needs, industry analysis and market research efforts into actionable product plans.
Work proactively with executive management to define and execute market strategies for offerings and business lines to enter new market segments; this includes interacting with internal audiences to drive segment messaging and strategy while identifying and resolving issues that hinder attainment of ControlScan’s business objectives.
Interface with internal product management, development, sales and marketing.
Maintain expert status on domain, market segment, industry, and competitive analysis and positioning. This also includes developing new ideas, new offers and bundles as appropriate ensuring growth for our product and services portfolios.
Work collaboratively with internal sales team professionals to educate them on ways to deliver value propositions that communicate the company's strategic value relative to each market segment and are complemented by product value propositions that serve as proof points.
Work within the marketing department to develop market segment specific launch materials, training materials, and any other collateral material required to support sales and key marketing messages.
Work within the marketing department to develop awareness and lead generation programs for specific market segments.
Play a leading role in the organization of and communication with key customer-stakeholder groups
Work closely with public relations team to educate industry analysts and other influencers on how ControlScan solutions are positioned to address the needs of specific market segments.
EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate has seven to ten years of overall marketing experience.
Minimum of five years experience in B2B Technology or Payments Industry product marketing or related fields.
Minimum of one (1) year of leadership and/or management experience is required, whether direct or indirect.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working in a marketing department focused on product messaging and positioning.
Experience working with technology products and services.
Experience creating tools and materials to enable direct/channel sales organizations.
An understanding of product development and related processes.
Experience working with customers and prospects in assessing business needs and translating these needs into product strategy.
Strong written and verbal communications skills.
Forward looking and innovative thinker, able to come up to speed quickly on new ideas and concepts.
Must be comfortable working in ambiguous and/or stressful situations.
Must be self-motivated and know when to seek guidance.
Flexibility, ability to change priorities quickly, and capacity to handle multiple tasks.
· Experience working extensively with colleagues in sales and product management to gather, vet and prioritize product requirements and insights.
· Interest in staying abreast of trends in both the technology and payment industries.
· Strong competitive analysis and product positioning skills.
· Experience working directly with customers in both pre and post-sales situations.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
BS/BA degree in related field required.
Advanced degree is helpful, but not required.
